Train with the Top Motor and Diesel Mechanic Training School for A Firm Grounding in the Industry

Optronics (Thermal Imaging Devices)

Purpose:

This training program is for an individual interested in the optronics field; it offers an entry-level understanding of optronics enabling the individual to perform limited operations on optronics systems. The training programs contain all basic skills, knowledge, values, and attitudes required by a learner who needs mainly to be able to perform a range of activities and thereby meet the challenges within a specific optronics environment. An individual acquiring this Qualification will be able to contribute towards the efficient operation of several processes within this sector and at this level as described in the Core component of the training program.

The Core component covers the following competencies:

  • Understand the basic concepts in Optronics, the need for image intensification, and thermal imaging.
  • Identify the different thermal imager systems and types.
  • Display an understanding of the basic physics and terminology.
  • Display an understanding of optical systems.
  • Display an understanding of NVD Basics
  • Display a fundamental understanding of the UTV Sensor
  • Display an understanding of the inner workings of an eye.
  • Assemble and disassemble various components that make up a thermal imager following given guidelines.
  • Upload software.
  • Perform configuration.
  • Test configuration.
  • Perform waterproofing tests and climatic tests.
  • Perform Inspection and Maintenance on a thermal imager.
  • Perform inspection and 1st and 2nd level repair.

These competencies will enable the learner to work in different industries within the Optics sector.

The Qualification ensures the progression of learning, enabling the learner to perform optimally within the Optronics(Thermal Imagers) field of learning and providing access to learning at a higher level within the same or a related sector.
