Telematics/Tracking devices installation
A Telematics device is a highly intelligent computer consisting of a GPS tracking unit and various other onboard sensors that work together to monitor and report on the overall status and activities of the vehicle, including speed, idling time, fuel usage and more.
Purpose:
This training program is for individuals who wish to be involved in the telematics industry. The training program contains all the necessary skills, knowledge, values and attributes required by a trainee who needs mainly to be able to perform a range of activities and thereby meet the challenges within a specific Telematics device installation. An individual who undergoes this training program will be able to contribute towards the efficient operation of several processes within this sector and at this level as described in the Core component of the training program.
The Core component covers the following competencies:
- Customer interaction
- Comprehension of PSIRA regulation and best practices
- Basic electronics concept, its wide and industry applications
- Basic telematics concept, its wide and industry applications.
- Following the provided installation guidelines and procedure
- Ability to read grid locations.
- Perform pre- and post-inspections with clients.
- Installation and testing of Vehicle based Units(VBUs).
- Installation and testing of onboard camera and sensors.
- Perform current draw.
- Product knowledge
- Tracing and repairing auto electrical faults after installation.
- Applying safety, health, and environmental protection procedures.
These competencies will enable the learner to work in vehicle telematics industries within the ever-growing vehicle telematics sector.
